The dealer’s button, also known as a buck or a button, is a white plastic disk. It is usually located at the right end of the small blind. Depending on the game, the buck indicates the nominal dealer.
Each player will be dealt two cards. If there are more than four people at the table, the player with the highest-ranking card breaks a tie, even if there are two or more people with identical hands.
The highest hand wins the pot. In some versions of poker, the pot is split between the highest and lowest hands. Another form of poker is the five-card draw. To play this game, a player must pay a small ante. Players will then take new cards from the top of the deck.
A three-card brag is a popular gentleman’s game from the 18th century. It is still very popular in the U.K. Today, although the game has evolved into a more sophisticated version.
Two pairs are another kind of poker. Whenever two or more players have a pair, the high card is used to break ties. If there are a pair of aces, the person who is dealt the aces is the winner.
Five of a kind is the best possible poker hand. However, this is only possible with wild cards.
